SLIPKNOT To Begin Work On New CD In January
December 12, 2002SLIPKNOT will begin work on the follow-up to their 2001 breakthrough album, "Iowa", in January.
The as-yet-untitled CD, which will be produced by Rick Rubin (SYSTEM OF A DOWN, SLAYER, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS),is tentatively scheduled to be recorded in the spring for a late summer/early fall release through Roadrunner Records.
STONE SOUR, the other band of SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root, will wrap up its current tour with a New Year's Eve show in Clive, Iowa and will take the month of January off while SLIPKNOT commence the songwriting process for the next CD.
According to Root, a STONE SOUR tour of Europe, Japan, and Australia is in the works, with the band returning in March so Jim and Corey can finish up the SLIPKNOT album. A STONE SOUR summer tour is likely, but Root admits that if the SLIPKNOT sessions are prolific, it could be in jeopardy.
The one thing that is for certain is that you'll never see a SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR bill. "Absolutely not," Root tells Billboard. "I never would want to play twice in one night like that. One show a night is enough for me. After I do a SLIPKNOT show, I'm pretty much spent."
